Xiaomi Mi 11 is a 5G enabled device

You can use 5G in the respective places after registering in the Dialog 5G trial. There is no dual 5G mode. It is not necessary. Even if there is Dual 5G, data will be used only from one network at a time. So I don’t understand the importance of that feature. Anyway, currently I am using Dual 4G on. Because VoLTE is enabled on both sims. I haven’t felt any signal issue or drop so far.

Talking about WiFi, both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are supported. Even Hotspot can be provided in 5 GHz. I work on WiFi for three to four hours a day. It has never auto disconnected from WiFi. Speed will not drop. If there is a WiFi failure, there is no problem because the WiFi Assistant feature automatically switches between WiFi and Mobile data without interrupting your work. In addition, WiFi Assistant has two or three other features. Enough about that in my previous post. Read if you like.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth 5.2 is available. It also has aptX HD and aptX adaptive feature. Since it supports Wireless HD audio, the sound output of bluetooth audio devices is good. Currently I use Baseus Encok D02 Pro and JBL T 115BT (AAC enabled). No problem. After pairing once, it auto-pairs without any problem after turning on the device. If aptX support is TWS, I didn’t have to try it. Therefore, I have no idea how that experience will be.

Display

Mainly, there is a flagship curved display with a WQHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. However, the camera punch hole on the left side is not set too well for me. Also, the finishing of the display on the upper edges is ugly for me. A finishing with such side bumps is given to give extra protection to the display. Those two messes are an obstacle to get the full experience. A display should be clean and neat.

Among the other features of the display, the brightness is one of the features I like best. You can use the phone even in the hot sun without any problem without turning on the sun light mode. Looks good. Because the peak brightness is 1500 nits. There is nothing to talk about the viewing angle. It’s next level. You can’t see it if you look at the phone from below. 😂

Next is the WQHD+ feature. There are no words to say about this. A ppi of 515 means so 😍. Details are so great. And sharp. 120 Hz, 480 Hz touch sampling rate and flagship level haptic feedback sensor are added to this and you have to use it to get the feeling. Even while typing, the haptic coming from the key board is as sharp as if the sensor is right under the finger.

There are no words to say about color accuracy, details and sharpness. So next level. Display mate A+ certificate is also available. It has 7 different color schemes. You can select the one you like and customize it as you like. P3 color gamut, sRGB, Enhanced are special among them.

Another great feature related to the display is the AI image engine. There are 4 options under this. I will explain more about these in the MIUI features part 2 post. Until then, let me be brief.

1) Super Resolution – This is done by using AI to increase the quality to 960p when we watch a 480p video on YouTube. I don’t know if 960p will increase. But the quality is higher than 720p. I turned that option on and off and tested it. The thing is true.

2) AI image enhancement – what this does is to detect the object in the images and adjust the display accordingly.

3) AI HDR enhancement – what we do here is convert a video we are watching into HDR mode using AI. Details are clearly visible in dark and bright areas.

4) MEMC – This one does it very well. What happens here is that if the fps of a video we are watching is low, the AI engine adds a few more frames together. That means increasing the fps count and making the video smoother. 😁

There are more features to talk about the display. If you talk about them, the review will be quite long. Therefore, without much detail, I will explain it below.

1) Dark mode – deep black is excellent due to AmoLED. There is no big difference with other devices.
2) Anti flicker mode
3) Reading mode
4) AOD
5) Sun light mode
6) Night mode
7) Double tap

Sound

There are two dual stereo speakers tuned by Harman/Kardan. There is no sound loss in the output from the two speakers. Even the smallest variations can be heard. In addition, it has 4 sound modes. Smart, Music, Video, Voice. You can switch to the respective mode by dragging. There is nothing wrong with the sound output. But because of the two speakers, I have a little problem. When an audio is played from the two speakers, a small vibration comes all over the phone. Especially when typing while scrolling, it feels a bit.

Also, it does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. But a type c to 3.5 mm female converter comes in the box itself. But if you want to get the Hi-res experience, I recommend to go for at least a type C dual driver.

Talking about wireless audio, it also supports Hi-res audio. Apart from that, as mentioned above, there are aptX HD and aptX adaptive features. In some places, the equalizer is not even needed. Sound balancing is so good. If you use Spotify, you can change the bass boost of the FX-booster in the inbuild equalizer as well as the surround sound and change those things according to your wishes.

In addition, there is a sound assistant feature. After the notification comes from there, you can adjust it as you want. In addition, there is an equalizer. There is another best feature called sound adjustment, which allows you to tune the sound output based on the sensation of your ears. It only works for wired handsfree.

Battery

It has 7 hrs SOT with 14 hrs Idle. 120 Hz, WQHD+, Dual 4G on (because VoLTE is enabled on both sims), Super Wallpaper is set, 24 hours Bluetooth on, AI image enhancement on, MEMC on, AI HDR enhancement on, and 24 hours mobile data on, 20 hours a day AOD is on. I am neither bad nor good enough to say.

Current last day after turning off all that and turning on only mobile data, the idle was 24hrs and the SOT was 10 hrs. Battery saver turned on at 50%. Ultra battery saver was not installed in the last 10%. If I put that too, it would have dragged on for another three to four hours.

When the MIUI 12.5 enhanced version comes, there will be a better battery backup. But there is another problem. That’s because 3rd party apps like WhatsApp and Facebook consume more battery than the display with its various features on. Those app developers have not yet optimized those apps for this device. The battery performs much better than this if the devs on facebook and whatsapp have optimized their apps a little to match this and done justice.

Camera

The main wide lens is a 108 MP lens. But usually a photo is captured in 27 MP. The reason for that is bins down to reduce the size of the camera output. There may be some lack of details then. But if you want to capture the photo with 108 MP, you have been given that chance by the Camera app. There is also a 13 MP ultra wide lens with a FOV of 123⁰. A good wide area can be captured without losing details. In addition, there is a 5 MP super macro lens. No, the macro lens is not crap. Responsible. Someone who takes a job can do a great thing with it.

Xiaomi’s image processing has improved a lot. It does not even have a telephoto lens and its DXOmark score is 120. Also, it has been given the Bokeh Video Recoding option, which was not officially given even to the 9T pro which has a telephoto lens. Apart from that, many more features have been loaded in the stock camera app. I will make a post after describing them in detail, but for now I will list some of the highlight features. It’s hard to describe one.

1) Pro
2) Portrait
3) Night Mode – Photo, Video and Ultra Night Video
4) Video – HDR 10+, up to 8K 30fps, OIS, EIS, Sport mode, etc…
5) Slow-mo (up to 480 fps)
6) Time lapse
7) Documents
8) Short video
9) Vlog
10) 108 MP mode
11) Super moon
12) Dual Video
13) Long exposure
14) Panorama
15) Movie Effects
16) Clone
And etc…

Apart from this, the special thing to say is that a good gallery app that supports the camera app comes inbuilt in MIUI. Even small things can be easily edited from the depth of the photo. Also, there are loads of photo and video effects. Even Sky replacement. The Gallery app does a lot of justice to the Camera app.

Selfie cam is also dead. It also has the bokeh video recording feature. HDR facility is also provided. It’s not a big problem to vlog. You have to make the settings to suit yourself and record.

In addition, there are plenty of in-depth reviews about the camera and its features. If you want more details see it.

Build Quality

First of all, although this is 196g, it is not difficult to hold. It has a premium feel. It is determined by the way it is designed and how it feels in the hand. Therefore, if you put bulky backcovers for the protection of the phone, that premium feel will go away. So go as light as possible. While the screen is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus, the back is Gorilla Glass 5. Also, the frame is aluminum. Also, there is almost no fingerprint on the back, but if there is a fingerprint on the black one, it is more likely to be visible than on the blue one.

The design is not a big problem for me. The curve of the display is also dead. But the finishing of the display is a thief. As I said above, the device has been designed beautifully and the top two edges have been cut. The camera punch hole is also confusing to me. This is how things like this are relative from person to person. These are different depending on how you look at them. I am writing this as I feel. So not everyone feels the same.

Performance

Performance is very good because it has SD 888, LPDDR 5 8GB RAM, UFE 3.1 Storage. Even Ram management is not bad. App open time is low. The background process of recent apps is not killed. You can go back to the app and start working from where you left off. There has been no lag and freeze for so long. At least no animation gets stuck. Like butter. Smooth even when switching between apps. In Antutu, a result of around 750K is obtained when doing the real time test. When tested three times in a row, there is a score drop of about 10K.

It does not heat up during normal use. But during charging, it goes to 42 hours. That’s normal. In COD mobile, it goes to the maximum of 45. All settings are set to high. Frames don’t drop. There is no difference in latency. Ping is always between 40-60. But a brother who uses it said that when playing with maximum settings in games where the GPU is used to the maximum, like genshin impact, the temp goes to 50-55 and the fps drops. I don’t play that game so I don’t have to tell my experience.

A 55 W charger comes in the box itself, so it can be fully charged in about 1 hour. I don’t do heavy work like games while charging. So I don’t know if it will overheat at that time. I do not recommend it if that is the case. It’s the hour. Let those hours be charged freely. 😂

Overall performance is very good. Thermal management is not so complicated. But it heats up more than other devices. It is a common issue in SD 888. Many people in their community had said that after the hot enhanced update for China, the heat was reduced a lot.

Under display finger print is also accurate and fast. But because of the animation, it feels a bit slow. Also, you can measure the heart rate with the fingerprint sensor. Also, the face unlock is very responsive and quick. It works even in low light conditions.

Features like Back tap, Game turbo, Video Toolbox, floating window, Super Wallpaper, Second space, Dual apps, Full Screen Gestures, Knuckle gesture shrotcuts, App lock have been given in MIUI. Also, due to a curved display, it is possible to touch the edge by mistake. It has also been given an edge protection from MIUI itself. Especially the haptic feedback is next level. We can also adjust the haptic feedback level as we like and feel. Even during calls, the vibration is like the ringtone.
