This is the worst experience I have ever had with a bank.
After I made an online money transfer, the amount was transferred again by the bank and although it was completely the bank’s fault, the bank still failed to return the amount to me. It has been seven days since I complained about it and I have been reminded about it daily but there was no result.
This is a very bad experience I had with NDB Customer care… totally careless. I had pumped petrol in a petrol shed on 2nd November 2022. Thay tryied to take the payment first time and it was not success. And tried second time and it was success. But they have deducted 2 times same amount. I did not see it because it takes few minutes to send the message. Once I came home O received the message with mentions payment has ddeducted 2 times. I suddenly went to the petrol shed and ckear from their side that they did not received the money 2 times. I just contacted NDB HOTLINE and they confirmed 2 dedications and they said that they will contact the petrol shed or relevent bank and pay back the money. I got calls two times and they said that they will send back to me. but today took a call for another need (unfortunately it also was a complain) and I asked it from the telephone operator (Raj) and he said that they have closed the complain after send me a mail on 7th January 2023. ( I did the cocomplain on 2nd November as thay said they have reply me on 7th January) but I have not received any e-mail on that day.
Finally telephone operator (Raj) said that thay have called to the HNB bank (card machine the petrol shed use from HNB) and thay said that ” that transaction was is correct because they have given the service for both payments. I am really unsatisfied about their customer service. At least thay had to call me and tell. I do not recommend any one to start at least a savings account with NDB. too poor service…

I am writing to express my concerns regarding my recent experience with the Kurunegala branch of the National Development Bank (NDB). My name is Ekanayake and I had recently opened an account with the bank for the first time, as i had bad experience with my accounts with government banks. I deposited 15 lakhs and 10 lakhs as fixed deposits for three months and a year, respectively.
Upon attempting to withdraw the matured 15 lakhs, I was informed by a female officer that I would need to provide a letter issued by the bank, which I was unable to do as I was residing elsewhere, and the letter was not available. Despite having my foreign passport for identification, I was told that personal presence with the letter would be mandatory. When I inquired about the possibility of losing the letter, I was informed that a police report would be necessary in such a scenario. and many more reports etc… (Whereas some other banks do not ask for such thing ,because, Other financial institutions verify their identity and release the funds without the need for the original letter, as it is prone to being lost over the course of a 10-year deposit.)
Despite these difficulties, I was eventually able to withdraw the money from the bank, however, I also noticed another issue with the bank’s practices. Specifically, I was concerned that my identity was not verified while transferring 15 lakhs to another bank account. When I raised this issue with the female officer, she merely smiled in response.
I believe that the officials at the Kurunegala branch of NDB are belittling customers and this is contributing to the downfall of the bank. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this bank to anyone who values financial security. I am willing to provide evidence to support my accusations if necessary. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I never recommend this bullshit bank to anyone. They don’t how to treat a customer. The work staff is very unprofessional. They just waste your important time.
The worst bank in sri lanka. I have been trying to cancel my credit card for about 3 months. And after making more more than 10 calls to customer service and went to the bank twice they did it at last. Now i am trying to stop the notifications for 2 weeks.but still they haven’t taken any action. I have decided never to do any banking process with this bank. Ever again.
This is the worst bank experience I ever had. Because they have lot of hidden charges compared to BOC, commercial and People’s bank (I have accounts in these bank as well).
1.We put FD s at NDB, however if you want to get back the money for urgent case before the maturity, the only provide us “saving interest rate” for entire period we operated our FD.
2. Their staff are shifting from one branch to another within a little period. No one get responsibility of previous ones if we face difficulties.
3. When I called them, they told me, only they get extra 2% for loan against our FD. However at the end of their calculations it was over 4.5%.
4. We put FD s to get balance confirmation letter for UK visa purposes. When I visiting the branch after 28 days, one lady told me, the bank policy is “not to issue balance confirmation letter until the fund mature more than 3 months”.
5. I put saving account to collect my FDs interest monthly. Start the account by putting Rs.1000. However within one month, the entire 1000 gone for their different types of charges.
The thing I understood at the end is,
* the bank run staff with lowest qualifications, respect, and quality.
* the bank has huge number of hidden charges those can zero your savings account within a shorter period.
*the bank earns profits by using our funds, but if we want it before the maturity for urgent case, you can’t get anything than 3% interest rate.
The worst bank experience I ever had and I never recommend this bank to anyone.

they charge me for facilities that don’t work, and add more facilities they said they cant provide to me and charge me for that too. its like the bank is running a fraud and theft business.
they charge more and frequently for any facility than other banks.
after reporting many of their faulty issues, they act like they have done nothing wrong, and there are no issues.
NDB Bank is not competent or Qualified to be in banking.

Worst Bank ever In Sri Lanka.. They came back to us to make Savings Planners once I opened the savings planners they said I can uplift them prematurely with the current balance, therefore, I open a few savings planners for myself and my niece and nephew too.. now once I gave them a request to uplift my savings planners they told me that they can pay the current savings interest rate which is 2.5% even though I agreed with that now they were even didn’t pay what I saved in the last few years even after uplift those savings planners they were charged SO cancellation fee of Rs.3,000/- and they said that minor savings planners cannot be uplifted until something happen to kid WTF is this if I cannot contribute anymore what should I do? anyways don’t make any commitment with this bank they will charge us even for pee very disgusting
It is with great regret that I have to inform you a service failure that I had to experience on 04/05/2022 I came into your branch at giriulla in order to change a cheque to cash. I was waiting there 03 hours (1.50 p.m. to 4.45 p.m.) then they said that there is a issue in the system. Please don’t waste people’s time and make sure not to happen that in the future.
My Credit Card expired on March 22 and I asked them to send it to NDB Pitakotte Branch. I called last week to the Head office and did a reminder and they said they will send it on this week. So i called this wednesday (27th April) to NDB pitakotte and they said they never received such. So I again called the Card center and they kept me on the phone for nearly 20min and finally said the card is still at Nawam Mawatha. And they agreed to send it to Pitakotte Branch on this friday (29th April.). I did the same proceeded and called the Pitakotte branch and they said they didn’t receive it. Then I again called the head office and they again kept me nearly 15min on hold and said the card is still at Nawam Mawatha. Can i know what the fuck are they are doing with keeping card on hold at your card center. If they agreed with the customer they have to deliver it on time. Is this the service they are giving to the customer? Words don’t matter. They have to show it with their work. They have nice slogans. but when it comes to work it’s very disappointing. Now they asked me to come to the Nawam Mawatha and collect it from the Card Center.
I must state that NDB bank’s customer service is appalling. I had to send you any emails to contact them, which took more than 24 hours. What’s the use of having a credit card if we can’t pay it off? What I should say is that I can foresee the country’s position based on your bank’s behaviour.

Tried to open a bank account and told me that my ID verification cannot be verified because of network problems but in fact the queue is running for teller customers. Unprofessional and would not recommend to anyone.

The card centre people came to our office and canvassed Credit card to me on early January and now it’s been 5 freaking months still I didn’t receive the card. The best thing is these people have dropped my card on the road while on delivery and neither the courier guy nor the bank informed me about it. It happened on March 20th and I made the complain on that day itself. After that I had to call 5 freaking times to their bullshit contact centre and every time they are saying they will attend, that’s it. I sent emails for two times. Still no body replied me or called me back. My last call was about 15 minutes.
This is the customer service of NDB bank and I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND anybody to apply for any service of this bullshit bank. I repeat NEVER. If so you will waste your important time and Money as well.

#NDB බැංකුවේ Active නොකරපු කෙඩිට් කාර්ඩ් එක Cancel කරලා, Cancel කරා කියලා Letter එකක් e mail කරන්න කියලා අප්රෙල් 03 මම letter එකක් e mail කරා #NDB බැංකුවට.. අදට දවස් 6ක් තවම එව්වේ නෑ.. දවස් 3ක් බැංකුවට කතා කරලා Complain පවා කරා. ඒත් තවමත් නෑ.. මේ වගේ පොඩි දෙයක් කරන්න බැරි බැංකුවක් #NDB කියන්නේ.. අනික තමාගේ අදාලා රාජකාරිය වෙලාවට කරන්න බැරි සේවකයන් එම බැංකුවට පමණක් නෙවේ රටටම කරන්නේ අවමානයක්.. බැංකුවේ විතරක් නෙවේ හැම ආයතනයකම මෙම ගැටලුව පවතිනවා. මේවා ආයතන ප්රධානින් සොයා බලන්න ඕනේ..මගේ රැකියා ජිවිතේට අවුරුදු 10 ක් වෙනවා. අද වෙනකම් මට කිසිම Customer කෙනෙක්ගේන් Complain එකක් ඇවිත් නෑ. තමා පාරිභෝගිකයන්ට සේවාවක් සැපයිය යුතු රැකියාවක් නම් කරන්නේ තමාගේ වගකීම හරියට කරන්න. තවත් කෙනෙක්ව අපහසුතාවයකට පත් කරන්න එපා.
