I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the prolonged delay in providing a fiber internet connection to my residence in Anuradhapura. I have been requesting a fiber connection since 2022, yet after nearly four years, the issue remains unresolved.
Initially, I was informed that my residence needed to be within 500 meters of the nearest fiber waypoint. However, I was later told that my location is approximately 900 meters away. As an alternative solution, I was advised to gather at least five customers in my area who are willing to obtain fiber connections and submit a request letter, after which the service could be established.
Unfortunately, this condition has placed me in an extremely difficult position. The residents in my area have minimal internet usage and do not require high-speed connections. Despite genuine effort, I was unable to find enough interested customers. This situation is beyond my control and should not become the sole reason for denying an essential service.
At present, all available alternatives are unreliable. Fixed wireless connections perform poorly, and even 4G cellular data is unstable and often unusable in this area. My monthly data usage exceeds 250 GB due to work, education, and essential online activities, and there is no other viable high-speed internet option available to me.
This raises a serious concern: should a customer’s access to reliable internet be determined purely by the digital habits of nearby residents? Is it reasonable to expect an individual to compromise their career growth and educational opportunities solely because they live in a rural or low-demand area?
Reliable internet access is no longer a luxury; it is a basic requirement for professional development, education, and participation in the modern digital economy. I believe that infrastructure expansion decisions should also consider individual needs, long-term demand, and equal access, rather than relying only on immediate group subscriptions.
I respectfully request the service provider to review this matter with fairness and consideration, and to propose a practical solution that does not penalize customers based on their location or the usage patterns of others. I hope this feedback encourages a more inclusive approach to service expansion, particularly for regions like Anuradhapura.

I’ve been requesting this for years, and they still won’t provide line service in my area. It’s been seven years now. The line has already reached the main road, and my house is only about 800 metres from the DP, yet they still refuse to give me the service.

I have been using SLT Mobitel Fiber for a bit over 5 years, and this is just my honest experience.
Before switching to fiber, internet was always something on my mind. If I was working, gaming, or even just browsing, the moment something felt slightly off I would check the network, run speed tests, restart things. I think most people know that feeling.
After moving to fiber, that feeling reduced a lot. At first I still had some speed drops and small connection issues, but I quickly realized it was not the fiber line. It was WiFi. About 2 years ago, I wired things properly. Ethernet from the SLT router to another router, then direct Ethernet to my PC, plus a 5GHz router for wireless devices.
Since then, I honestly do not think about the internet anymore. It just works and it works fast. For the last 2 years, I have never had to worry about speed or stability. The only issues I remember were two times late at night around 1 to 2 AM when the connection completely stopped and came back later. Other than that, nothing.
In terms of speed, SLT Fiber has been the fastest and most consistent internet I have personally used in Sri Lanka as a normal home user. My connection started around 100Mbps years ago and has been upgraded multiple times since then. I have used several 4G connections before and none of them were this stable.
About the complaints saying fiber is slow, from what I have seen a lot of that comes down to WiFi, old routers, bad coverage inside the home, or too many devices. WiFi speed is not the same as fiber speed. SLT does explain this, but it is not very clear.
Unlimited packages are not truly unlimited, and yes that is 100% misleading. Once you hit FUP, speeds drop a lot. In my case, when my usage increased and I kept hitting limits, I upgraded my package and problem solved, and yes I understand that upgrading is what these ISPs want and that is something eveyone cannot do, but if you take the full advantage of having a high speed connection its 100% worth it. Heavy usage and finishing data fast is up to the user, ISP dont have to do anything with that.
I have not experienced fake usage reports, but I understand why people think that. The usage logs often show weird or unfamiliar names instead of clear websites. From what I have seen, those usually turn out to be Windows updates, app updates, cloud sync, or game downloads like Steam, which do not always show clear names.
I cannot speak personally about balance deductions because Fiber does not use mobile balance. But with mobile connections, most issues I have seen are from auto renew packages or unknown subscriptions that charge you by crediting with mobile balance. You can still call and ask for a history, but they do not make this very clear.
The mobile app is honestly pretty bad. In the early days when my data ran out, opening the app itself was a headache. Sometimes it was slow, sometimes it would not load properly, and checking usage was annoying. I think SLT should make it so that no matter the data usage or network status, the MySLT app always works, even at a lower speed. That way people can still check usage, bills, and packages without issues, while limiting the speed enough to avoid misuse. With my current package I rarely run out, so I do not deal with this anymore, but the app definitely needs improvement and more features.
Where I can 100% agree with complaints is customer support. It is inconsistent. Some agents do not seem interested, and support is weak. Issues do get fixed, but sometimes it takes longer than it should, and I have seen my friends and people I know wait days for simple fixes. But this mostly changes depending on the area.
SLT Fiber is not perfect and it is not cheap. Support and communication need improvement. But based on my experience, once the network is set up properly, the actual fiber connection itself is solid and reliable, and a lot of issues people complain about are not really coming from the fiber line.

fiber conection එකේ ලොකු අවුලක් නැ. හැබැයි ඉඳල හිටලා එකපාරට speed slow වෙනවා, conection loss වෙනවා. value for money නම් අන්තිමයි. unlimited family එක 1000gb data cap එකක් තිබිලත් speed එකත් 100mbps තිබලත් 8000 ක් ගෙවන්න ඕනේ, international market එකත් එක්ක pricing අන්තිම අවුල්. data cap එකෙන් පස්සේ 1mbps ටත් අඩුයි.

I am submitting this review based on my recent experiences with two major service providers. My experience with Mobitel Broadband was profoundly disappointing. After an initial investment of Rs 7,000 for the connection, the internet speeds were consistently and unacceptably slow, performing worse than standard GPRS. My attempts to resolve this involved three separate trips to service centers to exchange the router, each device failing to improve performance and causing significant personal inconvenience. After a month, the technical team finally attributed the issue to poor signal coverage in my area and demanded an additional Rs 18,000 for the installation of an outdoor antenna. I found it unacceptable to be charged extra to fix a foundational service issue that Mobitel should have addressed. Consequently, I disconnected the service, having never been able to use it properly for even a single day, and I am yet to receive a refund for the initial Rs 7,000 spent.
In stark contrast, I must commend Dialog\'s customer support. While I remain critical of their data packages concerning high costs and restrictive allowances, their commitment to service quality is noteworthy. When I encountered a signal issue with their service, they mounted an outdoor antenna completely free of charge. This high-quality, proactive customer service and technical support set a commendable standard in the industry, even though I cannot endorse the pricing structure of their current data packages.

Shitty service. I use this SIM only for my OTP purposes. So, I reloaded just 300, and that was supposed to be it for the whole year. A few months ago, I received a message that my SIM was canceled. I checked the app, and I had a reload credit of 1200 LKR. So, I called customer care, and this bitch told me I have to reload 100 per month just to keep the SIM active.Then I ask, \"How is that possible?\" This has never happened to me before. Then this bitch tells me, \"Sir, don\'t tell me you can\'t reload 100. I can\'t do anything. This is the system.\"

We have fiber conection in my home speed is great upload speed can be better but I think best one so far for upload speed. SLT have same problems as dialog They cant delivery low ping connection for us no mater what your connection is alwasys ping will be 200 to 300 its feels like handicaping someone. And I think if ISP gives us better packages for video streaming platforms like YT and FB and Twitch demad for data can be reduce. idk I dont know how internet works but this is my thoughts. SLT is basically slightly better version of dialog that is it.

The packages don\'t have enough data for the amount you pay. And there are a lot of taxes. The customer service is also terrible. They come to fix it within a week after you make a complaint. You have to make about 10 calls to get it fixed.

I’ve been using SLT Fiber for three years. Recently, they introduced new packages, including a youth package. When I activated it, the package was only valid for one week and would automatically renew if I forgot to deactivate it.
After it renewed, I deactivated the package, but it completely disappeared even though the 7-day period wasn’t over. However, I was still charged the full package price plus VAT.I donot recommend any of you to slt fiber or any slt internet services

The data packages are extremely overpriced, offering very little value for the money spent. On top of that, the customer care service — both the call center and the service outlets — is remarkably unprofessional and unhelpful. Getting even a simple issue resolved is a time-consuming and frustrating process.
I spent nearly 15,000 LKR just to obtain a new 4G connection and eventually had to request its removal due to how terrible the service was. The entire experience has been a complete waste of time and money.
This is, without question, the worst service I have encountered from any telecommunication provider. I strongly advise anyone considering this service to look elsewhere.

මම SLT Fiber use කරන්න පටන් අරන් දනට අවුරුදු 4ක් විතර වෙනවා මුලින් ම ගනිද්දි speed එක තිබුනේ 100Mbps Download 60Mbps Upload. දැන් ඒක 1000Mbps 1Gbps වෙනකන් වැඩි කරලා තියනවා. ඒ වගේම game එකක් film එකක් download කරන්න ගොඩක් ලොකු අවස්තාවක් SLTMobitel Fiber විසින් අපිට ලබාදීලා තියනවා. රාත්රී 12.00 ඉඳලා 7.00 වෙනකන් Unlimited data free දෙනවා හැමදාම speed limit කිසිම දෙයක් නැතුව. මගේ package එකෙන් මාසෙකට මට ලැබෙන්නෙ GB 100 ඒත් midnight triller (12.00 - 7.00 free data) නිසා ඒක දැනෙන්නේ නෑ. මම steam games, windows updates, phone updates, sftware updates ඔක්කොම කරන්නෙ midnight triller නිසා. අනික මට නම් කිසිම අවුලක් පෙනිලා නෑ Fiber connection එකේ. එකම අවුල රිලවු පැනලා වයර් එක කඩන එක. ඒකත් එක දවසින් ඇවිත් හදලා දෙනවා. අනික games වල ping එකත් fiber නිසා ගොඩක් stable. 40ms වල වගේ තියනවා ගොඩක් වෙලාවට. ඊලගට Happy Day එක. ඒකෙන් අපිට ඕනි දවසක් තෝරගෙන සම්පූර්න දවසටම free data with full speed ගන්න පුලුවන්. ඒක අවුරුද්දකට එකක් විදිහට තියෙන්නේ. app එක ගැන කිවුවොත් ඒකත් හොඳයි හැබැයි සමහර වෙලාවට වැඩ නැති වෙනවා. data පෙන්නන්නෙ නැති වෙනවා ඒක විතරයි website එකේ සහ app එකේ තියන එකම අවුල.මට හිතෙන විදිහට නම් දැනට තියන හොඳම internet connection එක SLT fiber තමයි.

I got my first Mobitel number back in 2011, and unfortunately, I’ve had bad experiences with their service ever since. The fiber connection speed is somewhat decent, but that’s the only positive thing I can mention.
Whenever I reload, my credits get deducted unimaginably. When I call customer care, they always insist that no deductions were made. From 2011 up to 19/11/2025, the same issue keeps happening. I eventually stopped calling the hotline because the responses were always the same, and many of the staff in both the hotline and technical departments seem to lack proper knowledge.
Another major issue I faced was with a 30-day unlimited social media package. I activated it, and within about 15 minutes, I received a message saying the package was over. When I contacted them, they claimed that no such package had been activated at all. I had to complain during a busy office hour, which made it even more stressful.
There are still many areas without proper 4G coverage, yet the company keeps bragging about 5G.
Right now, I only use my original Mobitel number to receive calls. But even now, they hold my account credit and send warnings saying the account will be disabled.
We pay for a service to make our lives easier, but Mobitel seems to do the opposite. It feels like they are openly misleading customers and taking money without providing proper service. Based on my long experience, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. 👎🏽

Honest Review of SLT Fiber (IT Professional’s Perspective)
I work and study in the IT field, so this is my honest, technical review of SLT Fiber. My partner owns an apartment in Kotte where I’ve been using the connection for about 4 years now. So far, so good.
SLT Service Quality I haven\'t encountered any serious issues. Honestly, the internet experience is not nearly as bad as many non-technical people claim. In my 4 years here, I’ve only had one major service disruption (indicated by a LOS light on the router), which was fixed within a few hours. On another occasion, I accidentally changed the PPPoE password; an SLT technician arrived and resolved it quickly. Their customer care is very polite, though I have noticed they aren\'t always as technical as those of us in the industry might prefer.
The \"Data Stealing\" Myth People often accuse SLT of stealing data, but that is ridiculous. I am fairly certain they don\'t do that. In almost every case, the issue is on the user\'s side. Modern apps consume massive amounts of data often in the background. If you are on a limited quota and don\'t manage your connection carefully, it will run out. Most people are unaware of auto-updates, cloud backups, and background services consuming their bandwidth. When their quota hits zero, they blame SLT.
The most hilarious part is when people claim the Usage Report is \"fake.\" Come on, this is 2025. With HTTPS encryption, it is difficult for anyone to see the content of the traffic, but the volume is real. That is just the nature of how data works. You should use your own local traffic monitor/firewall to track usage before accusing the ISP.
Who is SLT Fiber for? We are currently using the \"Fibre Family\" unlimited package (100 Mbps speed with a 1TB FUP). Our bill comes to roughly 10,000 LKR (approx. $30 USD) per month. For us, it’s like, \"කැළනි ගග යටින් පොල් ලෙල්ලක් ගියා වගේ\" (smooth and effortless).
However, this price point is likely too expensive for the average person earning less than $300 USD a month. Personally, I am happy with the connection. It is super fast. I use Parsec for remote gaming/screen sharing, and I get a latency of almost 4ms with bandwidth usage above 50Mbps. It runs incredibly smoothly.
