    I haven’t seen such a poorly operating DHl in any other country.

    I ordered some things from Farfetch, one of the most reliable shippers in the world, and, unfortunately, had to observe Sri Lankan DHL standards.

    I got charged more than 100% tax of the product value and no one could explain to me why the hell the tax I should pay to DHL is more expensive than the cost of the product itself (they tried to do this twice, and it’s close to $100).

    I cancelled half of the order through a shipper because it’s insane, and DHL refused to send anything back. (Farfetch is emailing me every day saying that it’s impossible to get any reply from Sri Lankan DHL)

    Apparently, I should have submitted the documents they sent to me with one half of the order, which were hidden inside the paper box (and no one mentioned anything), and which I successfully threw away, because that’s what I usually do to DHL invoices and boxes.

    Customer service is absolutely useless. The only reply they know is “we don’t know, we’re here just to tell you that you need to pay”. They’re not even trying to pretend to help. They’re just ripping people off telling that the problem is not them but Sri Lanka, lol.

    I’ve been using DHL for many years now and it works almost impeccably in most of the countries. DHL in Sri Lanka is a joke and embarrassment for the company’s name.

    P.S. I just loved how they were leaving my purchases $200+ to the concierges outside, not even calling me to inform about the delivery. Thank you for not giving it out to the strangers on the street.

    Not fit for purpose

    Can these DHL buggers explain why does it take 9 days to deliver a documents envelop to an address in Colombo suburb once they received it at BIA customs? Not the first time, but many times in the past. DHL is supposed to be a courier service? Isn’t it? Even a normal mail would reach anywhere within 9 days? Is this down to the classic sri lankan inefficiency? we’re reporting these to DHL HQ, perhaps they should have a chat with Sri lankan franchise (if they really care). This is beyond ridiculous and they are losing customers.

  3. I am a medical doctor. I have a bad experience with DHL.I do not hesitate to say that this company is completely cheating people.I sent parcels to UK (birthday gift once & foods another time) and this company cheated us.We paid whole amount here (to Panadura DHL).But they charged full amount each time from the recipient as well.Imagine how you feel when you send a parcel (specially a birthday gift) after full payment to a new friend from abroad and these cheaters charge from that person.It’s really embarrassing.This company didn’t inform us about charges from there.I knew it many months later.
    These type of incidents should bring out in public to make people aware.NEVER GET TRAPPED.

    Import tax on items < 10k LKR being taxed

    I was receiving a gift, baby cloths for my daughter from her aunt in abroad. Package value in LKR is 3k on the CUSDEC. However I have asked to pay custom invoice of LKR4.5k. First of all personal and gift items < LKR15k is duty exempted and < LKR 10 VAT exempted. However I got so many charges to pay for a small package like this. How do DHL clearance department operates? Have you not noticed this rule instead of telling me every item is taxed by customs? You are supposed to know correct cost calculations to help the customer.I have spoken to several of your staff in the clearance division but they say they don't know it. So who can advise then?

    I got CID, Cess tax, VAT, documentation chgs, computer fees, Custom overtime (ridiculous!!) , VAT on doc fees.

    Also you have used wrong address to courier my documents which delayed this for 4 days. I have many calls to make sure it's corrected.

    This is ridiculous!!

    That was a terribly service..I thought better than EMS and unfortunately bad service I ever seen.I’ve sended a urgent little document from japan.it was clearly been arrived to Sri Lanka..
    The problem is Sri Lankan bad staff..
    Anyway again doesn’t want to use this service.

    Bad experience

    I had very efficient service with dhl srilanka once when i sent a baggage but unfortunately when i sent the second baggage on the same service they took very long time for custom clearance.it took one month to deliver from one country to srilanka.our bag was damaged when recieved and they costed unusual taxes from customs.maybe its a problem with srilankan customs but i believe dhl should take some responsibility while delivery

    Spot on Service.

    Very Good Service. I had a few items delivered and sent using them. Has been top notch. prices have increased due to COVID situation, the service has been excellent and can rely on them on with the deadlines etc. If you need something delivered – you can trust these guys!
